BORDEAUX WINE​
The Commanderie is dedicated to supporting the Petits Châteaux of Bordeaux. Hundreds of small châteaux produce thousands of every-day wines from appellations such as Cotes de Blaye and Bourg, Entre Deux Mers, Fronsac Canon Fronsac, and the Haut Medoc.
These wines are distinguished by the fact that they age well and offer a style and character in tune with their fruit-forward nature and very available cost, which is usually at or below the $40 price point.

To increase volume and demand for unclassified Bordeaux wines while serving our Commandeurs, the Commanderie recently launched its Commandeur's Choice Initiative (CCI) with the objective of generating opportunities for individual Commandeur's to purchase outstanding Bordeaux wines for every-day enjoyment based on the input and advice of the Commanderie community at large.
The process used to identify and recommend specific wines is governed by the following criteria:

Stringent selection based on blind tastings by multiple Commandeurs.

Wine tasting trips to Petits Châteaux in Bordeaux.

Wine recommendations that address all palates to maintain and garner the attention of Commandeurs.

A maximum of 24 wines recommended per year.

Monthly E-mail blasts to all Commandeurs recommending Petits Châteaux wines detailing approximate online prices, tasting notes, states served, etc.

This magnificent 18th-century château, overlooking the Isle Valley, stands out proudly, facing Pomerol and the Saint-Emilion limestone hillsides.
​Composed of 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc, the 2017 Dalem spent 18 months in part new and part one-year-old oak barrels. Attractively dark and coaly on the nose. Juicy and notable freshness on the palate, the tannins are lighter than most. Mouth-watering and moreish, with perhaps a hint of bitterness at the very end, The wine has a clean and precise bouquet with perfumed blackberry and freshly picked mint aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with fine grain tannins. A clean and precise finish that is top drawer.

Acquired by Stephan von Neipperg in late 1998, Château d’Aiguilhe is one of the finest and most beautiful vineyards in the Castillon-Côtes de Bordeaux appellation. Located back from the river, the château's dignified ruins bear witness to a long and turbulent history.​

85% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc. Very rich and sumptuous on the nose. Fresh, red, and black fruits with a spicy, mineral-driven, sweet, spicy, plum, and cherry finish.

The Family Rodet Recapet has been working on the property since 1924, producing red wine. The production of white & rosé wine started in the 90’s.” They have added other properties as Château La Gravière AOP Côtes de Bourg & Château Yon Saint Christophe AOP Saint-Emilion.
AOP Côtes de Bourg, 2015. Bright red fruits, silky tannins, particularly for such a young wine - lovely ripe fruit, and great balance.
